What is PD measurement?

When placing an order for prescription lenses you will be asked to provide a PD measurement. PD is a pupillary distance between pupils of your eyes. A measure when given to you by the doctor will either show one number ex. 62 or two numbers ex. 30/31. One number measures total distance between your eyes. Two separate numbers measure pupillary distance of eyes separately from pupil to the nose. Either measurement is sufficient to fulfill your prescription order.

I don’t have a PD measurement, what to do?

PD measurement must be provided for all custom made prescriptions such as:

-          Both eyes are of different prescription

-          One or both eyes have astigmatism

-          Glasses to be used for distance

PD measurement is optional if glasses are to be used for reading only and each eye has same power ex. Sphere on both eyes is +1.50

If you don’t have a PD measure and need to order above mentioned glasses, please go back to your optometrist and have this measured.
